  • WHAT ABOUT RESERVATIONS?
Reservations are recommended and can be done through our website or by phone. We happily accept walk-ins if there are kayaks available for you at the time.
  • WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RENTAL FEE?
Along with each kayak rented, we provide you with a PFD (personal flotation device), a paddle, water pump, throw line, whistle for distress calls, paddle float, and a map upon request.
  • WHERE DO WE MEET YOU?
Sunshine Coast Kayaking is at Gibsons Marina at 675 Prowse Rd in Gibsons, BC. Please review our contact page on this website for more information. Once you book your trip you will get a confirmation email with this information in it as well.
  • WHAT TYPE OF PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept Cash, Visa and Mastercard.
  • ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS?
Yes. People under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult. Waivers are required for everyone going kayaking and need to be filled out by those at least 19 years of age. Children may be required to be in a double kayak with adult, depending on age and size.
  • WHAT TYPES OF KAYAKS DO YOU HAVE?
We currently have touring kayaks, recreational (standard) kayaks, foot peddle kayaks, doubles, clear bottom kayaks, and many more coming soon.
  • WHAT TIME DO WE NEED TO ARRIVE?
If you have a reservation, please arrive 15-20 mins before your scheduled time to give yourself enough time to fill out the paperwork and get ready to head down to the kayak dock. Walk-ins are permitted as long as we have kayaks available.
  • DO YOU OFFER GUIDED TOURS?
Yes, we offer guided tours in participation with locally based fully certified kayak guides. In 2024 we will also be participating with Talaysay Tours to offer more extensive packages. Please contact for more information.
  • CAN I BRING MY DOG?
YES! However, be sure to reserve a kayak that has enough room for your dog.
  • WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?
It’s highly recommended that you use a waterproof, floating phone case if you will be bringing your phone on your kayaking trip. We do sell some in our marina store. While capsizing does not happen very often, you should be prepared to get wet, so dress accordingly. Footwear suitable for water is suggested. You can leave shoes and other belongings with us for safekeeping if needed.
  • WHAT ROUTE SHOULD I TAKE?
We can provide a map with popular hot spots for kayaking in this beautiful area. Your route should be dependent on your experience and the weather conditions at the time of your booking. Most of our renters stay along the coastline which is very scenic and has nice spots to stop at. For those with a bit of experience a trip over to Keats Island for a stop at Plumper’s Cove is a popular trip. For more experienced kayakers there are many other islands and other great places to visit in the area.
